Kelsey Grammer was married to ex-wife Camille for 13 years, but he’s recently come out and said that his marriage was over almost before it truly got started. He also said that Camille was so desperate for fame when they were together than he gave her "Real Housewives" to fulfill her dreams. Notes Grammer, "Camille asked for a divorce really almost the first day we were married. If you say you want a divorce enough times, you’re going to get one."
Grammer adds that he tried to make things work, but in the end it just wasn’t to be. Says the 56-year-old actor, "I think what I was trying to do was sell it to myself. There was this small voice in the back of my head saying, ‘This isn’t going to work.’ But I stuck to it." Discussing Camille’s lust for fame, Grammer also noted that she "married me because I was Frasier," referring to the character he played on the eponymous sit-com.
On the subject of "Real Housewives," Grammer says, "I have to tell you, the Real Housewives was my parting gift to her. It was my way of saying, ‘Look, you always wanted to be famous. Here you go.’ I remember having one conversation where I said, ‘Well, don’t worry about it. After the first season, you can do the Divorced Wives of Beverly Hills next season.’" Despite not having any contact with his ex-wife now, Grammer does have a good relationship with his children Mason and Jude, who are 9 and 7, respectively.
