Hank Williams Jr. Writes Song About ESPN and Fox and Friends

After ESPN pulled Hank Williams Jr. and All His Rowdy Friends from their Monday Night Football opening, there was backlash all around. Originally, the network reacted harshly to Williams' comments on the Fox and Friends morning show, in which he used an analogy likening President Obama to Adolf Hitler. ESPN immediately announced that Williams' opening would be pulled from that night's Monday Night Football game, and eventually the network decided that the move would be permanent.

Barry Sanders will provide a voice-over introduction for tonight's Monday Night Football game between the Chicago Bears and the Detroit Lions, and the opening will vary from week to week. ESPN has not announced that it would like to find a permanent replacement introduction that would take the place of Hank Williams Jr's iconic intro.

Now, Bocephus has tried to return fire, quickly putting together a song that voices his displeasure with ESPN, Fox and Friends, and anyone who he perceives is infringing on his right to free speech. The new song, titled, "I'll Keep My...", is scheduled to be available for download as early as this evening, possibly early tomorrow.

While the country singer's analogy about President Obama was clearly ill-advised, he was attempting to make a larger point about government in general, as opposed to specifically targeting Obama. But even in the proper context, you really can't use the Hitler analogy, even though most conservative pundits do it.

This incident would appear to be more about ESPN having a new vision for the introduction of Monday Night Football than it is about anything that Hank Williams Jr. said on Fox. Networks like to change things up, especially when ratings are flat or falling. Executives at ESPN probably saw this as an opportunity to make the jump.
