Brad Pitt Backpedals Further On Jennifer Aniston "Dull" Comments

Brad Pitt's recent interview with "Parade" magazine has led to an uproar over what has been perceived as the famous actor dissing his former wife, Jennifer Aniston. Asked about his previous life, Pitt responded in the interview, "It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn't living an interesting life myself. I think that my marriage had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something it wasn't."

Pitt and Aniston split in 2005 and since then her quest for a new mate has been well-chronicled, while Pitt's romance with Angelina Jolie - as well as their adoption of what seems like scores of children (it's really only 6...so far) - has been equally covered by the media. But Pitt insists that he wasn't trying to intimate that Aniston was boring. While Jolie surely has a number of eccentricities that may make her seem more interesting - making out with her brother and creating paintings out of human blood come to mind - surely Aniston is interesting too.

Notes Pitt in a note to the press, "It grieves me that this was interpreted that way. Jen is an incredibly giving, loving and hilarious woman who remains my friend. It is an important relationship I value greatly. The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself. And that, I was responsible for." While the benefit of the doubt is not something that celebrities often deserve, in this instance, Pitt's initial comments can only be interpreted as denigrating Aniston anyway, so currently his backpedaling doesn't so much appear to be an "oops" moment as something was actually taken out of context or misinterpreted.
