Kelly Clarkson Compares Dating to "American Idol"

Kelly Clarkson is one of the best-known contestants and winners from American Idol ever. She has fame and fortune, with her astounding voice taking her career to height she may have never dreamed of and a total of 23 million albums sold. Yet the 29-year-old singer recently told her fans on Facebook that she "can’t wait to find a man who thinks (I’m) freakin’ awesome." Hard to fathom how a veritable cadre of men wouldn’t think that, but apparently she’s been having quite a hard time finding them. Apparently there are plenty of potential suitors, but most have very little in the way of actual potential.

She noted in an Access Hollywood interview, "The problem isn’t getting offers. The problem is getting offers from someone you like, you know? It’s really hard to find." Clarkson went so far as to compare dating to her time on American Idol, noting, "I recently said, I think it was last night to my manager, I was like, ‘You know what the problem is? It’s like an ‘American Idol’ audition. The worst ones are the most confident.’ And the same thing goes for my dating life. The worst guys are the most confident with me."

So, it seems that Clarkson may be a fan of the more shy, introspective sort than the type who is quite full of himself but very little under the façade. She added, "And the ones you want to ask you out are intimidated, so yeah, it’s not fun. Dating is hard!" Despite her lack of success on the dating front, Clarkson continues to have success in her career. He new album, "Stronger," will come out on October 24 and her latest single, "Mr. Know It All," came out last month.
